If poets, writers and painters vanished overnight, the world that was left would not materially change, but become separate camps – polemics – engaging in controversy, verbal attack and tirades; existentialists, who individually determine their purpose, and meaning; and most likely a third, engineers, obsessing over formulas, schematics, and measurements to describe a precise world.
I was fleeing from negativity on social media when I came upon a quote from William Butler Yeats that lead me to feature him today:
look for the best in people
I have believed the best of every man. And find that to believe is enough to make a bad man show him at his best, or even a good man swings his lantern higher.
some people are just irritating:
The worst thing about some men is that when they are not drunk they are sober.
self-improvement fosters happiness
Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this thing nor that but simply growth, We are happy when we are growing.
Science does not have all the answers
People who lean on logic and philosophy and rational exposition end by starving the best part of the mind.
