My Pavlova was not horrible for a first effort. Egg whites frothed into stiff peaks with sugar and then gently baked to form a golden circle with marshmallow- like texture had no pizazz appearance but it came out okay. The dogs were at first excited that Sheri and I were in the kitchen. But they got quickly bored when no meat smells nor scraps were coming their way.

Comet was first to taste test my next attempt. He found a splatter of creme patisserie on the floor. Seems it also turned out decently. Pity though, the choux buns I planned to fill with creme pat were a bust. The next day, my spouse made the recipe for cookies we saw on an episode of the Chef Show (Netflix). These baked flatter than either chef was expecting. I sampled more than a few.

Some spouses I know would not enjoy working alongside one another. Fewer would be able to work together in small kitchen. With Comet and Dexter hanging around whenever we are in the kitchen, it might seem overwhelming. Though Paul, Mary, or Jon might never come calling, we are less concerned with the finished product. We do both agree that baking and cooking are a form of therapy.
For me, I love food. It’s my greatest pleasure and also the thing that could ruin you as well. It’s one of those things where, if you’re not thoughtful about it, it could be unhealthy. But if there’s a mindfulness about it; it actually is a wonderful tool of emotional expression.Jon Favreau
There are as many ways to prepare food as there are ingredients. But as some find on these television shows, sometimes ingredients need do not combine as well as others. While I do not believe there is a single recipe to a happy and fulfilling marriage, I do believe in knowing ingredients, and how those ingredients react with each other, and when passion is involved, ultimately create something amazing.
