Thoughts for the Week

Rejoicing in heaven  (and earth)

I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.  – Luke 15: 7

A large number of our fellowship was at a baptism tonight for man whom over the last two years has become a dear friend.  First, his son became a disciple of Jesus,  then his mom, and finally, the father, tonight, made a sober and deeply convicting repentance.  In the presence of many witnesses, he was baptized into a life in Christ.  His son captured the respect and love for his father and for God in a few words before his dad was baptized in a cool evening and intermittent drizzle.   He recalled  that water has great symbolism for God in the Bible, and with the rain today refreshing the land, and a baptism tonight, God’s favor is on this day.
