Privilege of the absurd

The privilege of absurdity; to which no living creature is subject, but man only.

Thomas Hobbes, 17th C philosopher

Dogs and cats do not base their happiness nor health on politics, nor do they follow what is trending on the Internet. While my sample size is small, just considering Comet, Dexter, and the calico “in residence”,  it seems they thrive mostly on a little personal attention, a comfortable place to sleep,  regular meals, and general calm. But with the American Presidential election eight days from now, I would image Thomas Hobbs might consider the dire predictions of the coming “Apocalypse” just one privilege we can do without.

    1. And thank you, Richard, for your feedback. The more I meet people virtually through the blog, the more I realize that many of us look at our fellow humans and marvel at the insanity (absurdity) of it all.
