Husbands prosper when we listen to our wives’ “bucket list” dreams. And sometimes we husbands are fortunate to enjoy the experience of much as they. Train travel. Exploring. Meeting people.

A few days for an anniversary trip would be spent mostly in a car traveling from Southern California to the Bay Area (San Francisco). But a budget-pleasing flight, a ferry- ride, dining in Alameda’s Jack London Square, and a day walking around Fisherman’s Wharf, in themselves, made the best “date” we had in years.

Lots of fresh air, walking ‘more than a few’ miles, a little boat ride, and then boarding a train. A sleeper car’s rocking on Amtrak Coast Starlight ends a great first day.
