Power down

Yosemite, a spiritual refreshing

Detours I choose that take twice as long as patiently plodding through rush hour traffic; a bible study hour contrasting Saul’s connection with God with his son Jonathan ( 1 Samuel 12 and 13); and a pre-bedtime writing session in our study, with Comet noisily licking his paws and cushion.

What do all these have in common?  My inattention this week to my spiritual health has denied me the benefits of peace today.   I did not give my dogs a decent walk either in the morning nor this evening as I was a couple hours later than the other days of the week.

8 “‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
9 They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules. (Matthew 15:8 -9)

Funny how a day’s spiritual absenteeism (with Christ) has lead to being quietly annoyed all afternoon and evening.   So I write tonight to apologize.  A little Amazon Prime Music Smooth Jazz sets a better mood to start.

Real problems including one friend’s health issues, another friend’s pending eviction, and tonight a neighbor’s home had a fire engine and an ambulance in front.   I need to do some introspection, to spend some time in quiet places with my God seeking forgiveness for  ‘navel gazing’.    Unfortunately,   I drank a bottle of Mountain Dew about the time I was going to the bible study, so the caffeine has sparked my brain;  while my body wants sleep,  I will douse my gray matter with some Nyquil.  The resulting duel should take an hour.   In the interim, I have time to write, and then focus on the big guy.   Comet, let’s dry your paw, and spend a little pack bonding time.  I have some apologies to render tomorrow.
