There isn’t much opportunity for conversation some days when I am performing engineering tests in a restricted area. And after a number if months in that job, I am usually unaware that I talk to myself – out loud – from time to time.
This is a time when I would like to have my dog. At home, my wife whose role has her talking with students, administrators and faculty all day, can be silent as I ramble on. When she sleeps and I remain awake, Dexter and Comet hang onto my every word. Of course, this is normally when they receive a treat. And then they too go to sleep.
